Just got done eating dinner – Pork tenderloin marinated in Bass Ale and spices with a Guinness honey glaze and chipotle sweet potato fries. I give this a 4 out of 5 stars. The flavors were fabulous and the sweet glaze was a great accompaniment to the spicy sweet potato fries. I had hoped the glaze to be a bit thicker, but this could be rectified by tweaking the recipe a bit.
I’ve never used Chinese 5-Spice powder before – WOW what a kick of flavor! I like what it added to the pork.
This recipe was a challenge winner for Food Network and has not received many favorable reviews. I believe most of the reviewers are highbrow foodies. I liked this and will make it again – I am a sucker for cooking and baking with alcohol. Here is the link to the recipe if you would like to give it a try. Note: I did not make the slaw that went with this, so I cannot comment on its flavor. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/black-and-tan-pork-with-spicy-ale-slaw-recipe/index.html
I’m going to try an egg-stra special dish tomorrow – Crustless Quiche from a Hillshire Farm magazine ad. Good eating everyone!
